At this past weekend’s Ashland City Half Marathon Pardon took 4th place in a time of 1:07:41 and Joanna finished 7th in the women’s field, running 1:19 in her first race since the Olympic Marathon Trials 1 year ago.
After the race Joanna was grateful to knock the race rust off, commenting afterward, “not my best time, but damn it felt good to be out there.”
Pardon took a disappointing day with grace and offered this perspective on the effort, “Today was a bad day but it was just a day. I didn’t lose all the fitness I went in with because of a bad race. Legs were not firing, first time I have felt like that, why, I don’t know…. As we drive back home, my heart is full because of the memories made today.”
You can find the full results from the race here.
Next up on the ZAP racing calendar will be the US 15k Championships for Matt McClintock and Tristin Van Ord on March 20th in Jacksonville, FL.
Update: Pardon decided he wanted to end his winter block on a high note before taking a break ahead of his buildup for Grandma’s Marathon in June. So he went out to one of our training venues outside of Boone and ran a 10 Mile Time Trial in 49:50, over 10 seconds per mile quicker than his pace at Ashland City.
