The On ZAP Endurance team will conclude it’s 2021 racing season at the US Half Marathon Championships this Sunday, December 5th. The race will take place in Hardeeville, SC and will feature ZAP athletes Whitney Macon, Matt McClintock, and Tristin Van Ord. Josh was scheduled to compete, but after suffering a small injury setback over the last 2 weeks has decided to focus on training for the Houston Marathon.
The race will be held on the same course as 2020’s Mortgage Network Half Marathon where Matt was 2nd in 1:03:38 and Tristin was 5th in 1:15:57. Tristin’s personal best at the distance is 1:13:55 and Matt’s is 1:02:34. The course consists of 3 loops of roughly 4 miles each, plus a small add-on at the start and finish.
The women’s race is slated to begin at 8:51am with the men to follow at 9:05am. You can find the list of participants as well as live results at this link. There will not be live video coverage of the race, but with a subscription you will be able to watch a replay afterward on USATF TV.
Manchester Road Race Recap
All 3 On ZAP Endurance athletes competing at the US Half Marathon Championships this weekend are coming off strong runs at the Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day. In the men’s race Matt went with the lead pack as they passed the opening mile in 4:31. The group strung out on the legendary hill from 1.25 miles to 2.25 miles. Matt pushed hard up and over the hill and ran a strong stretch from 3 to 4 miles to finish 12th in 22:12 over the 4.748 mile course.
On the women’s side Tristin Van Ord also took 12th place. Breezing through an opening mile of 5:15 and powering up the hill Tristin used her marathon strength to get over the top of the hill and finish with a strong final 1.5 miles on the flat portion of the course to clock 25:30. Like Tristin, Whitney was also 6 weeks removed from the Chicago Marathon. She finished a few clicks behind Tristin in 15th place in a time of 26:15.
