Earlier this year Amanda Vestri stamped herself as one of the best 10k runners in the US. After posting the 8th fastest 10,000m time of the year Amanda went on to finish 5th at the US Olympic Trials. She followed that run up with a 2nd place finish at the US 6k Road Championships to finish off her summer racing.
As the fall equinox hits this Saturday, Amanda will be looking to kick the season off right where she finished her summer: on the podium. She will be facing a strong women’s field at the Cow Harbor 10k, which is serving as the US Championship event for the 3rd year in a row. In her ZAP debut a year ago, Amanda finished 4th at the event. Competing against a strong field that includes multiple time US Champion Kiera D’Amato and US 6k Champion Annie Rodenfels, she’ll have her work cut out for her, but will be aiming for more this weekend.
The 10k Championships will Amanda’s first race since the US 6k Championships in July and her only race ahead of her much anticipated half marathon debut next month at the Valencia Half Marathon in Spain.
The race begins at 8:30am, you can find the link for the live results here once it’s available and the race is scheduled to be live streamed at USATF.TV.
