We are very excited to announce that we have received a 2015-16 grant from the Houston Marathon Foundation. After receiving the grant for the 2014-15 year we couldn’t be more thrilled to be selected as recipients again this year, and want to thank the Houston Marathon Foundation for their support of ZAP and distance runners across the country.
The Chevron Houston Marathon and Half Marathon and the city of Houston have been very good to ZAP throughout the years. In addition to the generous financial support given to us by the Foundation, the event has hosted some of the best performances in ZAP history. Alissa McKaig’s 2:31 ZAP record was recorded in Houston at the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials where McKaig took 8th place. In 2014 Tyler Pennel ran another ZAP record, this time in the half marathon, where he ran 1:01:43 to take 4th place at the US Half Marathon Championships. In addition to those performances, Cole Atkins and Griff Graves both earned their Olympic Trials qualifying marks at the Houston Half Marathon in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
A huge thank you to the Houston Marathon Foundation for their support as we move forward toward the Olympic year!
