This weekend will be the final stop on the fall marathon tour for the On ZAP Endurance team. For the 3rd time in 5 weeks On ZAP Endurance will have two athletes competing at a World Marathon Major, this time it will be Matt McClintock and Tyler Pennel at the New York City Marathon.
This will be Matt’s 2nd marathon, in his debut he ran 2:18 at the California International Marathon in 2018, qualifying for the Olympic Trials. He has since returned from a hip injury and is excited to gain more valuable experience at the marathon distance before the Olympic Trials.
Tyler returns to New York for the first time since his 8th place finish in 2016. Since then he has had a series of ups and downs with injury but did turn in his highest World Marathon Major finish in his most recent marathon, the 2018 Boston Marathon where he took 4th place. Tyler wrote a blog post this week detailing where he has been over the last year and what he’s looking forward to this weekend in New York. Rich Sands of Race Results Weekly wrote a really nice piece on Tyler here as well.
The race begins at 8:30am Sunday morning and will be shown live on ESPN2 with pre and post race coverage on ESPN3. Live runner tracking will be available on the New York City Marathon App. New York will be the final marathon before everyone is training for the same marathon together, the Olympic Marathon Trials.
