Everyone’s situation and health concerns are obviously different, but the video below offers some general guidance on how you may choose to proceed with training during this time. There was also an excellent article written by Amby Burfoot on how to train and eat to protect and boost your immune system that we would highly recommend everyone read. One of the suggestions is to avoid hard training at this time, and that is advice we would strongly echo. Pushing your body to it’s limits dampens your immune system (it’s why so many people get sick right after their marathon) and can increase your risk of infection. However, running and exercise in general is great for your immune health, so if you’re healthy and following social distancing recommendations we would absolutely recommend continuing with your running routine. |
