This year for the first time in history the World Road Running Championships will be held on US soil. The Championships will be in San Diego this September and consist of 1 mile, a 5k and a half marathon distances. The selection event for the half marathon team is being held in this Sunday at the Publix Atlanta Half Marathon. The race is also the 2025 US Half Marathon Championship and will feature ZAP athletes Andrew Colley, Tristin Colley Amanda Vestri, and Ryan Ford.
Less than 6 weeks ago in Houston Amanda became the 8th fastest performer in US history at the half marathon distance and Andrew moved into the 11th spot on the men’s side. It says something about the strength of the fields in Atlanta that Amanda will toe the line with 4th fastest PR and Andrew the 5th. Ryan Ford enters the race riding a wave of momentum as well and boasts a 1:00:59 half marathon best from Houston, the 9th seed in the men’s field. Ryan and Tristin Colley are both running this as part of their buildups to the Boston Marathon after strong showings in New York this past fall.
The top 3 finishers in each race will be named to the World Championship team for San Diego in September. There is also 1 spot that will be awarded based on World Ranking.

Gate River 15k
Dan Schaffer and Josh Izewski will be in Jacksonville this weekend for the Gate River 15k. The race has long been a US Championship event, but with the half being held the following day Gate River has joined the PRRO Circuit and will feature a strong international field.
Josh is 6 weeks removed from his 2:10 PR at the Houston Marathon but has recovered remarkably well and is eager to step down and test himself over 15k. Dan was forced to miss the Houston Half Marathon due to illness, but since recovering his training has been clicking and he’s excited to kick off his 2025 with a longer race.
The race begins at 8:00am on Saturday morning and will be streamed live here on YouTube and live results will be posted here.
