1,000 Mile Challenge

Last weekend’s virtual challenge was a huge success! ZAPNation came together to blow away our goal of 1,000 miles, logging over 1,500 miles over the course of Saturday and Sunday. We had a blast rallying together to hit the goal, thank you to all of your who stepped it up and logged some miles last weekend.

There was a $100 gift card to the On ZAP Endurance store on the line for the person who logged the most miles as well as an additional $50 gift card to be raffled off randomly. After an absolutely epic showdown between Scott Laytham and Jackie Hall we had a donor reach out to offer a 2nd place prize of an additional $50 gift card.

Scott ran back-to-back marathons Saturday and Sunday and did NOT log the most miles over the weekend. Jackie, excited about the prospect of simply being able to compete at something, took the took the title by 1/10th of a mile. She capped off her 52.5 miles of running with a 4.5 miler Sunday evening, her 8th run of the weekend and 5th run of the day!

Greg Yarborough logged over 20 miles this weekend and was our lucky raffle winner! All 3 of our prize winners, Jackie, Scott and Greg, asked that their winnings be made as a donation to Black Lives Matter and we couldn’t think of a better way to cap off a fun challenge than by contributing to the Black Lives Matter movement on their behalf.

It was inspiring to see people push themselves a little (or a lot!) over the weekend and contribute to the goal. We all pushed each other to do a little more this weekend and we hope everyone enjoyed the collective competition. It was incredible to see people from California to NYC, up to Canada and across the ocean to Germany come together to take part this weekend.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the overall total, this was a lot of fun, we’ll have to raise the bar and do it again before the summer is out! (Although, as Jackie’s coach I have to say I’m not sure that’s the best idea 😂).

A special shout-out to Anne Jones for the great idea to do this challenge and be sure to stay tuned for next weekend’s challenge. We will announce them each week through our email newsletter, which you can subscribe to here, as well as all the virtual events we’ll be hosting this summer. If you missed our live core session this Tuesday you can catch the replay on our Facebook page or our IGTV page.

Thursday, June 11th at 7:30pm we’ll be live again with our first Coach Chat of the season with On ZAP Endurance head coach Pete Rea. Pete will be talking about how he has adapted training for the ZAP athletes during the pandemic without races on the calendar and how you can apply those lessons to your own training.
