Dan Schaffer will return to the track for the first time since his record breaking 2023 indoor and outdoor campaign. Amanda Vestri will be making her debut on the track after setting an outright 5k personal best at the US 5k Championships in Central Park where she ran 15:38. Both will be doing so at the famed Boston University indoor track this Saturday evening at the BU Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener.
Dan and Amanda are both coming off strong performances at the US 5k Road Championships at the beginning of November where they both placed in the top 7. Dan was kicking for the win in the men’s race at the end and ultimately finished 4th. Amanda finished 7th in the women’s race, bettering her track personal best by 5 seconds with her 15:38 performance.
Dan owns a personal best of 13:36 in the 5k outdoors and set his indoor personal best of 13:46 at this meet a year ago. Both Dan and Amanda will have their eyes on new overall personal bests and competing with incredibly strong fields.
The meet takes place Saturday, December 2nd. The women’s 5k is set to begin at 3:58pm with the men to follow at 5:30pm. Live results will be available here once the meet is underway, and you can watch the live stream here with a Flotrack subscription.
