Josh has landed in Australia where he will be racing the Gold Coast Marathon for the 2nd year in a row. In 2023, Josh finished 5th at the World Athletics Gold Label Race in a then-personal-best time of 2:11:26. Despite running a personal best of 2:11:09 to place 8th the Olympic Trials this past February, Josh will be eyeing another personal best at the 2024 edition of the race.
Having finished 5th last year, Josh will also be looking to compete near the front of the race. With 12 sub-2:10 performers in the field, this year’s race is being billed as the “deepest in race history.” Josh enters the race with the 15th fastest seed time, but believes he is ready to outperform that seeding, just has he did a year ago in a race that saw 3 of the top 6 fastest performers in the race’s history.
The race begins at 6:15am local time on Sunday, July 7th. For our non-Australian audience, that’s 4:15pm eastern time on Saturday afternoon, July 6th. The race was live streamed here on YouTube last year, it’s not clear whether that will be the case again this year, but it seems highly likely.
