Tristin Van Ord made her return to the indoor track last Friday night at the Camel City Elite Invitational. The event was held on the JDL Fast Track, a 200m flat track facility in Wintson-Salem, NC, a mere 2 hour drive from ZAP, and was Tristin’s first indoor track race since graduating from Appalachian State in 2017.
With only 7 participants the women’s 5,000m field featured quality over quantity with the top 3 athletes all bettering the meet record of 16:49. Tristin clocked an indoor personal best of 16:32 to take 3rd place behind 2 sub-16 minute performances. Tristin’s outdoor personal best was set at the end of her 2020 summer racing season where she ran 16:14 at the Music City Invitational in Nashville, TN.
Up next for Van Ord will be the US 15k Championships at the Gate River Run. She will be joined by her On ZAP Endurance teammate Matt McClintock.
